Musical Theatre; Classical; Jazz
Katherine Marie Smith has an eclectic, diverse career in music, and she is humbled and grateful for it!
A regular in the indie folk scene, Katherine has recorded horn tracks on 4 different indie folk albums and performed at Red Rocks Amphitheater with Gregory Alan Isakov and Elephant Revival. During the summer of 2016, she had the unique opportunity to tour the country with Gregory Alan Isakov and the Ghost Orchestra.
An active performer and teacher, Katherine is Assistant Lecturer of Horn at the University of Wyoming and Casper College, Adjunct Music Lecturer at Laramie County Community College, Fourth Horn of the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, Principal Horn of the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, former Second Horn of the Fort Collins Symphony, and has served as Acting Principal Horn for several of the orchestras in the Colorado/Wyoming region.
With an extensive background in classical music, jazz, and musical theater and a love for the indie folk genre, Katherine's songs lead with rich harmonies on the piano with her acrobatic soprano that floats above it all. A hopeless romantic, she has a particular soft spot for a sappy love song.
Songs and Testimonials
"My song is a validation of my life. It is an act of love and self-love. Working through fear and vulnerability lets me grow and get to the heart of my humanity. I shared myself openly and I feel seen and loved through my song. The song she wrote was perfect."
"Working with Kat was awesome! The interview itself was a powerful experience, then the song she wrote was perfect. Kat is a fearless artist who transformed my jumbled story into a song that gets right to the essence of who I am and where I am. You can bring so much joy and love to people with this. Thank you for sharing your joy and light with me."
